I live in a zone 6/7 in Tennessee and am new to gardening in the winter! We bought our house last year in April and planted summer vegetables, but no fall or winter garden. I want to plant some winter vegetables but I am not sure what I can plant in January and harvest before I start with my spring vegetables. I also will be doing multiple raised beds, only because I am having to put our gardens in the front of our house for maximum sun exposure and i need them to look presentable so that our neighbors dont get hostile with us! Also, my compost isnt ready yet, so does anyone have any ideas on what type of compost to use in the raised beds etc. I havent ever had raised beds, only the tilled and planted type, so I am hoping for the best. I really want to get a good start on gardening for 2008 and be totally prepared so that I can get the most out of my gardens this year, so any suggestions on garden planning resources, expecially on the internet would be of great help!!!
