I have always been using safer's EndAll with great results, it kills all stages of mites. It's made of canola oil and a flower extract and can be applied to the day of harvest.

I second the safer's or another brand of insecticidal soap -- I don't mind neem, but my wife doesn't like it, so I spray when she's not around . . . .

Prevention also helps; putting a small fan on to get the air circulating around the plants, giving them a serious wash once a week in the sink or shower, and checking under the leaves for the little buggers are all recommended.

And think of spring on its way!!

Thank You all! I washed off my leaves with soap and water- they got pretty dusty- not good. I will definitely look up the Safer brand, though.

I don't know if it would work on spider mites, but I use tobacco leaf tea to get rid of aphids and other soft bodied insects, I had a tree tomato with an infestation of aphids this winter, it took about 2 times and I got them all by the second time I sprayed (it doesn't effect their eggs).
