I have a gardenia which has never bloomed. It had big, fat buds which it promptly dropped the moment I bought it. I kept it outdoors all summer and brought it in this past fall. It has been in indirect sun and I've kept it very well misted. All of a sudden, there are light-green growths at the terminal ends of several branches. The growths have six long strands with a very small (smaller than a pea) size swelling in the middle. I guess I could wait and see if these things turn into buds, but I've heard you shouldn't fertilize when the plant is in bud, so that's why I'm asking. Thanks in advance for any insight.
