Problems with Hyacinth

| Hi everyone!
I recieved some Hyacinth bulbs in a plastic container inside a basket as a gift from a friend from 1800flowers.com
I read the directions and placed them in indirect sunlight and watered them when needed.Well, they've grown quite nicely and they're flowering, nicely fragrant, and beautiful. The one is a purplish color and has grown and flowered quite tall, well, this morning it fell over. I need some advice on what to do, do I cut the flower? do I leave all of them in the pot/basket? Do I transfer them to vases seperately? And is the one that fell over still safe? Some much needed help and advice is greatly appreciated! I'm very new at this!
Sincerely,
Danielle &thanks!! |

| Hmm, what are they growing in? Can you see if the roots are OK by gently sliding the roots and mix out of the pot? It may be they fell over because they got too dry -- bulbs in full flower need consistent moisture. Or it could be simply that's it's almost done flowering and the flower stalk fell over and will now dry up. Or it could be that the weight of the flowers is too much for the stalk and it needs a stake to stay upright. If the flowers are still in good shape, stake them upright, keep the pot moist but not waterlogged, and wait a day or to to see how they do. Hope this helps! Jim |
