Moonflower

Hi all. I posted this on the vine forum as well but haven't gotten a response yet. So I thought I'd try here as well. I was looking for ideas on where to plant some moonflower seeds where they could take off and reach their maximum height, yet not cause any damage, if they are even capable of damaging anything. Last summer I had a few inside my screened-in patio and they did great but they didn't have much to climb on so they went up a small trellis and then kind of twined around each other. Can I plant the seeds at the base of a large (30 foot) tree and let the vines go up the tree without hurting the tree? What if I let the vine go up and over my patio screening? If memory serves, the vines just twine around things and do not penetrate like a pothos or philodendron will. Thanks in advance.
