Sweet Autumn in dappled shade?

Hi,

It seems the more we're snowed in the more we dream of sweet fragrance in the garden :)

So here goes my dreaming: I would like to plant a Sweet Autumn Clematis in my front garden, against the porch.
However, the spot might be quite challenging.

So, I would like to know, if anyone has had success with it in similar conditions.

Soil: The soil is sandy but can be amended with compost, but excellent drainage.
Light: Is dappled shade, a giant maple 40-60 feet high, shades the area. Thus there are always pockets of light here and there. Obviously the bigger it will receive more light, here and there, if you know what I mean :)

Any insights will be appreciated.

Bob
