Well, what concerns me is what has drawn the mites in the first place.
Many times if a gardenia is not happy and in good health, before an attack, mites are soon to follow.

How much light are you providing for it?
What kind of mix do you have yours in?
How long does it take to wait between waterings?
Is that plant in a window?
Do you fertilize all year long?

Now that you have the mights I would correct all donditions as soon as possible, but certainly the mites themselves to begin with.

Can you get a good horticultural oil asap? Do you have accesss to the 3-1 Bayer product that kills mites plus more?

Let us know. YOu need to wash and spray them things off asap. I would not wait another minute. I would even take that thing to the bath tub if you can not take it outside, and put some soap on my hands and wash every leaf off them soapy water, then rinse the leaves off thoroughly.
Anything, until you can get the pesticide.

well i have the plant under a grow light and i water it every couple of days when its gets a little dry and i have never fertilized it yet since it has buds on it and i dont know what kind of potting soil it has either
