I have a HUGE gardenia and am unable to spray the undersides of the leaves. Will toni's solution still be beneficial in getting ris of the spider mites? Also will it harm the buds?

Spider mites are tough little buggers, and you have to make sure that you are getting all of them or a few survivors will re-infest in a week or so. If you can't spray, can you rub under the leaves with a weak solution? Sure, it'll take ages, but think of the love you'll be showin' your 'denia! Definitely try to keep sprays and soaps away from the buds. Good luck! Jim

Suki, Jim is correct. To rid insects for good, all parts of a plant, including undersides of leaves need to be cleaned, no matter what type of insecticide is used. When you spray, avoid aiming at buds and flowers. Sprays discolor and can kill blooms. Good luck, Toni PS. Spray, ASAP. Mites are fast-working, hearty eaters, and like to raise, large families..
