Replacing gardenia

I planted two Mystery Gardenias last spring and thought they might make it through our up and down winter but realized this week that the green they did have in the trunk was now brown. I plan on replacing them with the Chuck Hayes variety for hardiness. When would be the right time to plant these, after frost or now? I am so sad as I left a beautiful gardenia bush at my old house and I'm afraid I'll never have one like it again.

Definitely after frost, lost one of my gardenias to frost too, there are other plants that would worry me more if they succumbed to frost though.

You should go to your old house and ask for several cuttings off of your old gardenia bush. Put the cuttings in potting soil and cover with clear material for shaded light. This is the important part... send me one. haha good luck.
