Mine bloom in the spring and fall with no fertilizer.

Is it in the ground?
If it is, just mulch it real good, water it when it becomes dry and leave it alone.
How old is iT?
They don't bloom real profusely when they are really young.
The more sun it gets, the more leaves it grows for protection.
It will bloom for you, stop fertilizing it and enjoy your blooms this October.

The tree has been with me few years now and i just transplanted to ground few months ago. Does anyone have pics of the tree budding? I got very excited with what I thought were flower buds this morning but now on closer examination I'm not sure if it's just more leaves.

Go easy on the fertilizer,like butterfly4u said, and keep it evenly moist. Osmanthus is a slow grower, and transplanting can delay blooms as the plant gets adjusted and puts out new roots. It blooms from the leaf axils, and the buds are tiny, greenish-white balls, you can't miss 'em!

Have you checked the pH of the mix...Givin a litte lime to swweeten the mix, can cause a big difference in your plant..I did mine...:-)

I also use a small amount of slow release "Osmocote Plus" and they are doing awsome, and that is in conatiners..

I also find they flower more when the temps drop very cool at night.

I think that's the prob, no cool night temps here. Even during rainy season the difference is not big. Anyway, I've decided to wait a bit see if those buds are flowers or leaves.

Given the right conditions, Osmanthus fragrans will bloom off and on all year. The heaviest bloom periods will be in the spring and the late fall or early winter.
