My Draceana fragrans is about to bloom

Hi, I'm new here. After about 12 years of waiting, my D.fragrans is about to pop out a flower stalk. The last time this happened was to its parent plant about 15 years ago. I'm quite excited. The fragrance is very nice. I'm a big fan of nocturnal fragrances too, which this one is. :)

The plant is very slowly revealing its flower stalk and some of the closed flower clusters. It's oozing a very thick honey, which I tasted. I probably shouldn't have done this without researching on possible toxicity. Anyways, too late. It was sweet and there was a bit that was crystallized (or dried). I'm thinking that it will be about another week until first night fragrance.

I don't know why, but my Draceana's flower stalk croaked. :(

It emerged about half way, then it dried up and stopped growing. Does anyone know what causes this? It was well fed and watered as usual. The flowerstalk died before ever giving an evening scent.

I think my Draceana will soon be on the sidewalk with a 'free to a good home' sign.
