Is this a Spice Bush?

A coworker of mine is going to give me some babies of this plant. She had called it a spice bush, but today she said she googled a spice bush, and it didn't look like the spice bushes she seen on her search. She said the plant has a very fragrant spicy apple smell to them. I just wanted some help in identifying these so I can make sure I treat them with proper care. Thanks for any help you can give!

Hard to tell from that distance do you have any close up photos? Could possibly be Ribes odoratum which has a rich spicy fragrance which travels on the warm spring air and will easily fill the whole garden

Ribes odoratum would be my guess as well. Definitely looks more currant/gooseberry-ish than spicebush-ish.

Thank you. I do not have a close up. But I did pick up some of this today from her. Maybe I can get a photo of the small plants that I got. But I did smell this bush today, and it is very fragrant, and smells just like apple cinnamon to me.

I've had this for many years and have known it to be called Spicebush. It only blooms briefly once a year but I love it. The scene is strong and to me smells like cloves. When it's in bloom I can smell it wafting as far as a block away.
