Do you mean Tea Olives (Osmanthus fragrans)? I have some and would say they are quite slow growing and not conducive to a privacy type hedge if that is what you are seeking. Nicely fragrant in a subtle way but not thick or showy. That is my experience. Others may say differently.

Osmanthus Fragrans will make a fine hedge if you aren't in a big hurry. They grow pretty fast for the first 4 feet, and then slow down considerably.
They love the sun and a good drink of water once a week, so there will be regular maintance involved, since you want to have them grow for a hedge.
I would have to say give it at least 3 or 4 years til you ahve a nice hedge.
You won't have to constantly trim them since they slow down in growth, so really, I guess they are perfect for a hedge.
Try to buy the biggest ones you can find.
