Most fragrant shrubs and trees?

I live in Zone 6a (NW Arkansas) and have a fairly steep slope in my back yard. I have a spot (10' radius) that gets good early sun and very good mid-day sun in the winter and average to good mid-day sun in the summer. We have a 2-level deck in the back and I want to provide 8 months (March thru October) of fragrance (flowers and/or foliage) to the deck. I need some recommendations for shrubs and/or small trees that at least collectively can provide fragrance through the season. Though evergreen is preferable, the shrubs and/or trees can be deciduous as long as they have at least 3 seasons of interest and aren't blah for much of the year (i.e. lilac, forsythia ... unspectacular when not blooming). Bloomerange Lilac.
- New Lilac that blooms in the Spring and all summer.

Black Lace Sambucus
- Hardiness: USDA Zone 4-7, in zones 4 and colder it can behave like a perennial in and die back in the winter. Quickly grows to form a nice plant the following spring.

Bloom Time: Begins in late June

Bloom Color: Soft pink fading to white as they age. A lemony scent.

Foliage Color: Attractive, finely cut, dark purple-black

Fall Color: Remains the same color

2 excellent suggestions...just did my research on both and will definitely add both to my landscape...though I love the fragrance of lilac, my biggest complaint about them is that they don't give you anything special for the other 50 weeks of the year...now, it appears that they can give you several months of interest...thanks.
