Balcony Garden - Heliotrope

Posted by danz-sweetpea 3 (My Page) on

I have a balcony that gets good morning sun and can get quite hot in the late afternoon/evening with NW sun.

I would love to have some fragrant flowers to bring that garden smell up to the 4th floor. I purchased heliotrope for the first time last year and fell in love with it instantly. They weren't anything to write home about, I didn't know what to do with them, but they lasted all summer and smelled incredible!

I don't think the little twigs I have left are going to grow this spring, but I am going to purchase more (along with sweetpeas). I would love some tips on how to care for this plant.

Danz, are you planning on planting in containers?
It may sound silly, but in Chicago, many buildings now have roof-top gardens..plants are planted in soil, beds, not pots. Which is it? Toni

I will be using pots.
