Help with Mirabilis Jalapa tubers

Posted by thom_c 6 (My Page) on

I bought a few Mirabilis Jalapa (4 o'clock flowers) tubers, and can't figure out exactly how to plant them. The tubers look like a carrot, pointed at one end. Do they go in the ground pointed end down? horizontal? Sorry for what must be a silly question... but better to ask than goof up. Thanks! Thom

yes, the pointed end goes down. they would be o.k. horizontally, too. in my area, they can be a pest. i have dug some runaway tubers, thrown them into the woods only to find them trying to grow there! you will probably have to lift yours in the fall?
