I have seen 2 varieties of gardenias in local lowes gardening center. There is no name tag on them. They look similar to the below plants. There isn't much information about these plants.

Are these gardenia's die in the winter? I live in north carolina.
Do they bloom only in summer?

tree gardenia is in 3 gal pot and other is small shrub in a gal pot.
they are $35 and $15.

RE: Gardenia variety

Why not keep them in a pot and move them indoor during the winter?

The first picture looks like the Vietnamese gardenia and the second, Aimee (First Love). You are lucky to find the Vietnamese gardenia locally, I had to order mine online :o)
