I wish to grow both Thunbergia and Cornuta. Actually growing from seed sounds really appealing to me.

I have sniffed it.......to me it as a much lighter smell that the other gardenias.

These are used as root stocks for grafting purposes. I read that the grafted Miami Supremes grow larger on thunbergia roots. However, own roots survive better in colder regions.

That's one plant I want to find!. The scent of Gardenia thunbergias is nice but different to the scent of G. jasminoides. G. thunbergia's is a very heady white floral scent whith a soapy (aldehydic)characteristic quite similar to the scent of moonflowers or thunbergias. It's very fragrant at night. Gardenia jasminoides scent is very sweet and heady and > fruity with nice cardamom/vanilla hints.

My Tiare shrub is blooming for the first time now and although the fragrance is nice I'm a bit dissapointed. this plant gained a lot of popularity due to Monoi de Tahiti oil (which smells synthetic BTW) and in many boutique perfumes like (Comptoir Sud Pacifique "Aloha Tiare")which is a heady white floral composition with sweet vanilla and coconut hints. I thought the scent of true Tiare would be something that wonderful. But it smells very similar to Gardenia thunbergia, only a tiny bit sweet and much lighter :0(. Never like the wonderful scent of Gardenia jasminoides.

The seeds are so small that it may take years for seedling to flower. G thunbergia can grow into over 10 feet tree.

How do germinate seeds of Gardenia thumbergia and how long does it take for a seedling to flower?

I have a few seeds of G. thumbergia and G. cornuta for trade for other Gardenias or other scented flowerin shrubs.
