There is a large shrub popular for roadsides that is very fragrant in the fall here in Virginia. I think the common name is Queen agnes and/or illae agnes butr I can't find anything on the web in any of my searches.

Any clues???

If it's eleagnus pungens you're thinking of, it is indeed fragrant, but it may also be invasive in your area; you may want to check your state ag dept. on the web and find out, they often list native alternatives as well, so you may find a new fave!
