I bought a very small grafted Michelia alba today and am looking for some advice on whether I should bury the graft union deep in the soil to allow the alba portion to root, or should I just leave the graft union above soil?
The root stock is Michelia Chapmaka. The seller said plants grafted on this root stock blooms and grows better. Not sure if he is just trying to cinch the sale or it's actually true. I have read on this forum in the past that grafted ones take much longer to come into bloom and take on the shy-blooming quality of the M. Champaka rootstock.
Would appreciate any input.
Many thanks,
FG
