My new honeysuckle is blooming with very attractive orange color! However the fragrance is a total disappointment, not fragrant at all. So honeysuckles are not all fragrant.
I also bought another cultivar called Berries Jubilee Woodbine Honeysuckle. It shall have light yellow color. It will be fragrant as the label indicated. After flowering, it will produce red berries.I smelled one in LA area last week. The fragrance is slightly milder than that of regular honeysuckle. The color and flowers is nice.

I think honeysuckers, I mean honeysuckles are very fragrant! and yes insects are very attracted to their honey, I mean nector! LOL
I dont know the name of it but there is a varity here that grows as a weed, actualy thats being nice, Its a vine that chokes out every living thing it comes in contact with and just when you think you have killed it all, more come creeping back.
It does however make up for it with a heavy sweet smell that wafts quite a distance. It is growing wild in a wooded area behind my house. Its good from a distance but I would never plant it myself.

There are a couple wild species of honeysuckles in the US, one in the Pacific Northwest with orange flowers and one in the south with yellow flowers, that are not fragrant at all. The one up north is mostly pollinated by hummingbirds I believe, so they use more of a visual clue than an olfactory one. I am not sure what the excuse of the southern one is. :) But the visual clue is strong, the flowers are brilliant yellow and presented in clusters against a peltate gray-green fused pair of leaves.

The flowers of the varity I was speaking of are a very creamy white and as they age they turn more pale yellow almost a butter color. Super smell! The vine is very invasive. I have never stoped to look at the leaves. I may have to take the time.
