Magnolia lilifera available at Logee's

I just want to give an FYI that Logee's has this one new for 2009. Very rare I think and difficult to find.
From what I read the flowers are only fragrant for a short period (and short lived) but incredibly wafts tens of feet away. I will try it out and see how the fragrance is. But I feel that its one of those plants that I probably can't report back on until years later when it finally flowers. :O

Just received my order. Not bad. It is in a 2.5" pot, but the plant is like over 1 foot tall with very HUGE leaves.

Logee's is having this plant on sale for the month of November.

To put it in my terms, at the sale price, it's a friggin' awesome deal! I'm not affilliated with Logee's--just trying to promote the hobby of growing fragrant plants!

Keep in mind, it is a tender tropical. And even less cold hardy than Michelia alba (Magnolia x alba). Mine's did die outdoors during last winter. I bought a replacement a few months ago and they were still sending out good size plants of this at least a foot tall.

Agreed! Mine arrived this week, the plant is 2 ft tall, very healthy looking :)
