A celebrational post...

...from my yard to yours....Korean Spice Viburnum shrub has been wafting incredible (and strong) fragrance all around our home and neighbors for a week now. My Solomon's Seal has just , today, begun to open its flowers. ...and yes, we have hyacinths, tulips, sweet woodruff the faint chorus of millionsof crabapple blooms and lilacs, too - but I have not seen the two above mentioned much on this forum so thought I'd add them into the spring chorus here!

I am also thrilled to be able to smell three flowers new to my nose - tulip varieties that I planted last fall. It's probably much like what the old explorers used to feel when they stepped into new territories :)

Whitejade, what tulip varieties are they? Had some a few years ago that happened to have heavenly fragrances...and hadn't even known tulips could be fragrant! Talk about your nice surprises. Thanks for the celebration!

The ones that I planted for this spring so far have not panned out as having any discernible fragrance to me ! They ARE really sweet though in terms of looks so I am ok with them....I planted two varieties of T. batalinii...Bright Gem and Bronze Charm. I also planted Apricot Beauty - and this one does have a fragrance, but I don't care for it - it's merely GOT an odor that it emits :)

I didn't know tulips could be fragrant either till last year when I finally smelled one early single yellow tulip that had been planted many years ago by a previous owner in my yard. These are SO fragrant and gorgeously scented! I have no idea what variety it is and yet these tulips (I have only a few) actually waft their perfume throughout a fairly large area! They were lovely again this spring :)

If you find varieties that are really fragrant in an unmistakeable way , please think about sharing their names with me ! I will do the same...(it's also quite possible that the tulips I planted this past fall are simly not fragrant at my home.... anyone had these varieties and found them to be sweet?)
