Jasmine plant in North West, US

| I am planning to purchase and grow Jasmine plants here in seattle area. I heard it will be ok in summer, but die during winter. Is that true? Is there any other types of jasmine plants I can grow in this area? THanks |

| Jasmine is in general half-hardy, some are fully hardy. Otherwise, officinale I'd expect to survive in your area, along with beesianum and stephanense. |

| so do you think officinale, beesianum and stephanense will survive all year long in my area? I am very new to gardening, BTW if anybody knows where can I get these.. please post here. Thanks |

| Jasminum officinale and J. x stephanense can be purchased from local garden centers. J. beesianum is less easily located, but doesn't smell anyway. Try THE PLANT LOCATOR - WESTERN REGION (Black-Eyed Susans/Timber) for unusual plants. |

| I think they should survive all year long, it'll look like it has died back in winter, but it will come back in mid/late spring. You may prefer a trachelospermum jasminoides though, even hardier and smells more strongly of jasmine/similar. Both officinale and trachelospermum are very difficult to kill. |

| Tracelospermum is less hardy, not more. |

| Hm, well the rhs state it as being fully hardy, the officinale being stated as half hardy. Either way they're both fully hardy here. |
