Just acquired a grafted gardenia

I just want to share that I just got a grafted gardenia. It was trained into a 20 inches tall tree form with very thick stem, about a inch thick actually. I have never seen a gardenia with such big leaves before. It's dark green and loaded with buds.

When I took it out of its nursery pot. I am amazed by its root system. The roots are so thick. Older roots are very woody, new growth is five times thicker at least than gardenia's own root. I only see this kind of root on trees. The edge of the container bottom has been wet for a while, some roots are rotting away, but looks like the rotted roots are kind of confined to the root tips. New root tips are emerging from the upward part. In general, the root is very sturdy, I can feel it when lifting it up by holding the trunk. Not like regular gardenia on its own root. You kind of have to hold the pot to lift it up.

I will get everybody updated on how it's going.
