Just to offer a status update.

This grafted gardenia is the most vigorous gardenia I have ever been acquired. I put it under full sun, now it requires watering everyday. It also gives me the most flowers compared to the non-grafted ones. So far there are about 10 flowers opening at the same time. Comparable to puglvr1's gardenia pictures posted online before.

So far I love it.

The gardenia is doing very well given our hot summer, I have to water her every single day. Now there are about a dozen flowers open all the time.

They are beautiful, and like that in your area!! I would start planning to keep that plant healthy all year..This time of the year is easier than most...

Lot's of sun, warmth, light, and natural rain...Even without fertilizer for a while they do well...Than the sun and warmth for this..

Thanks for the kind words.

What do you think I should plan for the winter? Repot it into Gritty mix? I already took the root ball out, and removed as much old mix (similar to 5:1:1) as possible. I potted it back into a clay pot with gritty mix.

I do want to enjoy the flowers, so many of them to lose if I do a full bare root.

Smart thinking man..Many wouldn't think of preparing for the fall now by changing their plants into a well draining mix till it is too late into the season..

Bravo to you and I am sure your plant will not suffer rot rot if you did it all correctly..Wonderful man and a beautiful plant!
