Fragrant Plants

Please recommend lilac cultivar or similar native!

I LOVE lilacs but they're no longer really flowering in the last several years with increasing temps. Can someone recommend a reliable cultivar I can replace my no name cultivars with? I'm 6b, our summers are very hot and alternate between drought dryness and rainforest like humidity. Winters are also hugely variable, with mild to very cold temps.

Or, maybe a similar plant that's a native? I'm in Maryland.
