This is a long shot, but Woodlanders Nursery in Aiken, SC had a pic of a big red flowered tea olive last year on their web site.
I don't know the name of it.
They have stopped shipping for this season, but they will ship in the fall, and it might be worth your time to call or email them and ask if they still have it.
It caught my eye because I had never seen a red one.
They will know what you are talking about, they also sell extremely rare plants mailorder.
Check them out, many people from Garden Web shop at this nursery online.
Good Luck and I can appreciate your absolute love for the plant. Let me know if they still sell it and if you are happy with it, if they still carry them.
