Can dianthus be used as cut flowers?

I have lots of dianthus that returned from a general fragrant seed package last year. Seems like it's the only thing that did.

My question is can you cut these for bouquets and have the blooms return on the plant? Or does it ruin the plant for the season?

Perennial kinds have a basal tuft or mat that would not be cut and taken with flowers, so subsequent growth largely unaffected, for all practical purposes.
