I have two in very large pots. Let's see, I think they're three or four years old, maybe three feet tall and just as wide. But they're not really shrub-like, more like little trees. One of them is getting ready to bloom (has about eight buds at once, so it'll smell fantastic). The other takes longer to bloom because it gets more shade.

The cocos hate full sun (burned to a crisp once), and they are very susceptible to leaf-chewing insects.

In a pot they will happily grow to 4-5 feet high. I've seen one planted in the ground in full sun near my house and its around 10feet tall. It must have acclimatised as I have mine in bright shade and if I put it out in direct sun the tender young leaves turn a horrible black, and later "crisp" as the leaves get older.

The fragrance is lovely, very much like chempaka. It reminds me of 'Juicyfruit" chewing gum.

The combination of the fragrances from M. Coco (sweet) and Hedychium Coronarium (slightly spicy) is absolutely divine. I wish they would flower constantly.
