michelia alba leaf bud vs flower bud

I have 1 year old grafted plant that has given me 2 blooms so far within the year. Its growing so fast and I see lot of buds at each leaf node but majority turn to leaves. I have yet to learn to differenciate a leaf bud/flower bud.

Can anyone post pics and let me how to recognize flower buds on michelia alba plant?

lol..Kandhi good one..

I should of asked this questions when I first got mine years ago..Now I just wait to see bean hardlike buds witha very short stem and I get excited..They always turn into flowers! I have two on mine I just received,,

Just like Mike mentioned. I seen those buds in my new alba that I just bought about a week ago too. I bought 2 tall michelia albas on ebay they haven't bud for me yet. But the one I got from Chicago it have several buds. Now I have 3 michelia albas. The two that I had before died on me this past winter. So I decided to try them again.

Mike & Savy4 thanks for responding. I do see lot of buds that are growing bigger and I am pretty sure they are flower buds. I am excited to have that many buds on 3ft plant.

Savy4, I have seen your m.alba pics before, sorry to hear that you lost them. I hope the new plants you bought do well this year for you..
