Gotta love gardenia! Lovely!

On another note as lovely as gardenia smells. Why can't perfumers get it right? The gardenia products out there just stink. I guess there is just no replicating some of natures jewels.

Living in Va., you prolly get to leave it out, right? Being in zone 5, I don't have that option, so I have to keep it in a pot and bring it in. That's why I was pleased with the blooms I do get, it's not normal around here to even see a gardenia.

You're right about perfumes, they don't come close from what I have found.....

Crsliz I cannot leave my pots outside. I have to get them inside when temp go down to mid 40's here. I had success with gardenia this year, last year 2 of my gardenias died. The picture above is 4ft plant tree form but I do not know the name of it.

How do you keep a gardenia going from year to year like that? Especially in a colder climate? I had a neighbor who was an Italian tailor and had these beautiful gardenias (potted) on his walk. I enquired how he (every year) got them to look - and bloom - so beautifully and his answer was sort of simplistic (language barrier?) and or he wanted to keep (why? :) ) his secrets. But what did you do? I'd love to know. :)

No secrets here....it sits on my porch step, gets morning sun,when the sun is a couple hours from being gone, it gets alittle from the other side. I water it before it gets dry, spray the leaves when I do. In the winter I'll let it sit where it gets some PM sun.I haven't fertilized it, apparently it does okay if ya don't.
