That is normal, only the double and triples don't drop their blooms. It'll produce blooms just fine if you keep it fertilized and fairly dry.

Like RP1 said, the flowers only last a day or two. To keep it making more, it's got to put out new shoots and leaves, so it needs lots of sun, but don't let it get dry enough to wilt the leaves.
