jasmine - repotting and root pruning

Hi! I bought a sambac last summer, and it survived both the winter indoors and also (I hope) an infestation of mealybugs. It has put out some new growth and flowers this year, but fairly anemically in spite of having been given both iron and fertilizer. Thus, I'm wondering if it might benefit from repotting, particularly since the pot seems to drain much more slowly than it did a few months ago.

I've seen some people mention pruning the roots when repotting plants, and I'd like to know if anyone here has an opinion on whether that's advisable for sambac? If so, how much pruning should I do, and is there a recommended way of doing it?

Thanks!
