Does anyone know if I can plant cestrum nocturnum or night blooming jasmine in full sun in the interior valley of California or should it have part shade? Our summer heat is very intense. thanks.

I just want to know where I can find it - in Canada. So many fragrant plants are not hardy here and therefore not readily available.

This plant comes from the Carribean, so it can take alot of sun, heat, and even some dryness once it's established, so go for it -- you'll get more flowers! Jim Sharon, can't help you with a Canadian source, but I'm sure at least some of the web nurseries can ship to Canada, no?

Sharon, you can try going to www.gardenwatchdog.com ..They list numerous nurseries all over the nation. It's worth a try..Toni

Or you could try growing it from seed. I ordered seeds from Chiltern's and plan to give it a try this spring. I couldn't afford to buy any more plants this year, but seeds are so cheap and you get a whole bunch. I'm going to grow several and see if there's a difference in fragrance.

This is a sample of US nursery shipping rules to Canada: "minimum order is $200 Please add $25 for inspection and certification. For packing and delivery charges, please add 60% of your total order amount. Taxes and duties are the customer's responsibility." Custom's duties are added at border. So you see why I look for Canadian distributors. |
