Suzy626, Zone 10/CA, wrote last week in the thread Dissapointing and/or pleasantly surprising fragrants:

"Have you ever considered Plumerias? This has to be my favorite fragrant flower because of its unique characteristics, shapes, colors, and different frangrances. From: fruity, jasmine, gardenia, vanilla, buttery, coconut, spicy, cinnamon, and chocolate."

Dear Suzy,

Could you tell us a little bit about the varieties that have these fragrances?

Plumerias are amazing plants to me.

I've longed to see one since I was a child, when an aunt came back from a trip to Hawaii and described them to me.

After all this time, I have just aquired my first Plumerias this summer. They dropped their leaves, but they have roots! I believe they are the common yellow 'Celandine', which I understand has a lemony-sweet fragrance.

Teas Nursery has a large list of Plumeria varieties, and describes some of their fragrances.

Does anyone else have descriptions of various Plumeria fragrances to offer?

Thank-you, and best wishes,

Matt Di Clemente
