Eccinacia in Iowa highway stop

Hi all,
Stoppd at the interstate stop in Iowa and was wowed by a sweet scent everywhere. The only thing there was large drifts of eccinacia purple cone flowers as examples of prairie flowers. They were terrific. Did NOT know they smelled so sweet before. No sign to identify which type coneflower either.

| I'm guessing they are a native species, and not a hybrid...but that doesn't narrow it down a whole lot.... Awesome! Some of the native species are becoming rare. |

| I don't know if you'll find the exact type, but there are several fragrant echinacea cultivars on the market now, and one of them might be very close to it! Jim |
