Do you have a picture of your B. Nitida? I'm still confused between the B. Americana and the B. Nitida.

I have many B. Americanas (I assume) but not any nitida. I have never pruned them before and still have no clue as to the best way to do that as they tend to grow very leggy. I like my plants to be bushy but it just seems impossible to achieve.

From the few articles I have found, most say B Natida and B Americana, they are one and the same....and tend to be leggy.

My plants have leaves that are somewhat rounded.

So what I have seen on the 'net, it looks like yours is a true B nitida and mine is B americana ... maybe 8-)

Here in Costa Rica, you very seldom find any plants for sale, with any name...
