Chuck Hayes Gardenia

My Chuck Hayes is 4 years old & is doing beautifully!
It is really growing & we only have a small back yard.

The plant had several blooms in June/July.
I just had 3 more blooms the past few weeks.
And I see more buds coming out.

My question is about pruning it.
When is the correct time to cut it back? Can these cuttings be rooted & new plants started?
I would like to trim it back a little if possible.

Anyone with experience doing this?

Thanks

RE: Chuck Hayes Gardenia

I pruned mine right after most of the blooms fell off. A few weeks later new growths appeared, then shortly after new buds also appeared. If it were mine I would prune it after your blooms get done. I will prune it again probably late fall( I live in FL)so I will have plenty of time for new growths to harden off before our winter(Jan, Feb) gets here so I will have blooms in spring...Just make sure you don't wait too long to prune it, since you live in PA, your cold weather comes around a lot faster than us, LOL...Good luck!
