I have a gardenia that I started in 4inch pot in 2005 and moved to 8inch pot last year. The plant is 4ft tall and seems rootbound now. Needs watering almost daily. It is full of buds and the flowers are 3inch. Do I repott this now or wait until next year. I know gardenias are sensitive to repotting so I am afraid to move it into another pot as it is doing good in current one. thanks

WOW, it looks great!! I'd be afraid to repot it with buds on it, but that is me. Congrats on the great looking gardenia!!

RE: gardenia

i repotted mine while it has buds and blooms - it is about the same size as yours. i did it because it was getting yellow leaves and the flower buds: some of them were getting brown tips and only half open, then would become all brown. after repotting i have fewer yellow leaves but the flowering situation did not much improve: some tips are still becoming brown while it is opening and do not open fully. I don't know if repotting it is the cause. it still has lots of buds and more are developing. so strange.
