It's me. Yes, most of the time, it's the weather who is responsible, not us.

So far, my denia never lost one bud, (knock on the wood) the buds are super fat.

agree weather is responsible most of the time. My jasmine performs the best when it is very warm or hot outside.

i live in florida. so my gardenia blooms regularly. this year it bloomed in may and it had 150-200 blooms. i recently noticed it had another round of buds coming up and they were again many of them. i have noticed however that they turn brown at base and keep falling off. the temp is not low. the only difference is that it has been raining on and off. i was going to post a thread about it but then i saw this post.
do you think it is the weather or lack of nutrients?

it has been in the ground 7 years or more. nothing changed, sprinkler water, other than recent rains almost everyday and therefore i turned off the sprinklers.have'nt fertilized it recently. i suspect too much rains. don't know about bugs,will check though.

Radha, check at base of buds. if you see white you probably have aphids (even though there are about 5 other critters it could be). My buds began with partial opening and then would drop. They were also yellow. I tried everything i could find on the internet and asked everyone i knew that was plant knowledgable. Finally sprayed with 1-1/2 t Neem Oil + 1t Blue Dawn + 1 litre water. That was 2 days ago Most yellow leaves are gone. Leaves dark green. No buds yet but will treat again in 5 days then 2 weeks. Good luck
