First,

take a close look at the leaves, especially the underside, and see if you see tiny spiderweb-like things. Spider mites love this plant, and they love common indoor conditions (warm and dry). If this is the case, hose it off in the sink or shower every couple of days to keep the little buggers away, or spray it with a mild insecticidal soap every couple of days. Try a pebble tray underneath to raise the humidity, and if you've got the heat on, keep it away if you can.

Finally, ease off on the fertilizer: this thing won't grow as much during the winter, anyway, and you don't want long, week growth. Give it as much sun as you can, keep it moist but not soaking wet, and hope for the best!

Gary, are you familiar with scale? They are destructive insects that can be easily overlooked or not recognized as insects because they look like small dark lumps usually on the plant stem or the underside of leaves. They leave a shinny and sticky substance on the leaf surface. They have a thin shell coating on their backs which can protect them from some insecticides. I would recommend using a systemic insecticide which is absorbed by the plant roots. The poison kills the bugs that eat the leaves. Check out scale to see if this is your problem, and good luck. i am also curious as to the ph requirements of this plant if anyone knows of a place to obtain this info i would appreciate it.

Gary, is your jasmine growing in a pot or the ground?
Before applying insecticides make sure the plant has pests.
There's organic ways to rid bugs, and if your plant is in a pot, plucking w/finger and thumb, then applying rubbing alcohol w/Q-tip or cotton ball will destroy these suckers.

If it's spider mites, spraying w/water will rid them or if using a mister, add 2 drops of dish soap to water and spray 2-3 times a wk. Toni
