Robert, several years ago I grew Petunia axillaris 'Rainmaster' as sold by Select Seeds. I was disappointed with the plant and the fragrance. The regular old-fashioned vining petunias (from Seed Savers Exchange) on the other hand were wonderful and wafted their exquisite fragrance several hundred feet away.

I am curious to see how the seeds from Alchemy Works do for you. If they are a better, more fragrant strain than that offered by Select Seeds, I will be sure to order some. Please let us know how they perform.

I'm glad I'm not the only one disappointed by this species. I'll report my findings of the Alchemy Works strain next summer. :)
I'm also glad to know you like the old-fashioned kind since I purchased some and I'm looking forward to their wonderful scent next year.

You will be very pleased with the old-fashioned vining petunias. Just try to grow as many as you can, since they look better en masse. That way, the fragrance will amaze you and waft all over your growing space! :-)

Greetings...where can you get seeds for the old fashioned vining variety of petunias? I have an area around my greenhouse that I would LOVE to have some scented petunias growing.

Ladylotus, you can order the old-fashioned vining petunias from the Seed Savers Exchange website. They have the best strain of petunias that I have found. None are lovelier or more fragrant than these. A far cry from a modern Wave petunia! :-)
