 o
Narcissus and other bulbs...?

What bulbs is everyone growing here for fragrant flowers? Are there any flower bulbs that you recommend for a splendid fragrance?

I am curious about the sweet scented Narcissus tazetta hybrids. Supposedly, the foul smelling hybrids come from Narcissus papyraceus. But Tazetta hybrids tend to smell sweet.
I have my eyes on Narcissus 'Erlicheer' and 'Tahiti' which I have read smells sweet and I cannot find any negative comments about them. Can anyone vouch for that?

Hyacinths are the most strongly scented bulbs I grow. I do grow many fragrant Narcissus but they require getting right down to the flower to smell them and Hyacinths don't.

I don't find any Narcissus foul smelling. I love paperwhites but can't have them in the house because my husband is sensitive to all fragrances. I was a florist for twenty years and enjoyed them every winter.

I know hyacinths for sure smell great. I love them.

'Erlicheer' Narcissus has started to bloom this week. I don't think I am fond of the smell. I notice the same musky element to it as a typical Paperwhite. There is a stronger sweetness to it though. I think that sweetness is reminiscent of a body spray from Calgon called Hawaiian Ginger. Still, I find it mostly disagreeable and won't be looking forward to more.

I'm trying tuberoses this year, recommended by a friend. I'm also looking forward to growing some oriental lilies.

Hyacinths look very pretty, I'll keep an eye out for them. Thanks! :)
