stephanotis fruit/seeds within????

My 4 yr. old (potted) stephanotis has fruit! The smaller ones are smooth, shiny green ovals. The larger one is green on one side and black on the side that gets sun. Have read that the seeds inside can be sewn for new plants, but not much detail..i.e when to harvest, etc .Anyone here have experience with this? Thanks. LC

RE: stephanotis fruit/seeds within????

Here is a link I found that has some info. on seeds and fruit ripening etc. I was wondering about pollination of these plants. Mine is quite large and I dont ever get fruit. I was talking to some people on the tropicals in oz forum about this (a lot of people seem to grow it over there). I wonder if they need another plant for pollination? Or if you need a certain type of insect pollinator? I have seen hummingbird moths around mine but haven't got fruit yet. I started another one from seed last spring (Park Seed) and it is @ 12 inches tall now. I hear they take awhile from seed to bloom. I sarted it in a reg. seed starter/greenhouse on a heat mat with a florescent light etc. It germinated pretty easily.
Anyhow here is the link...
