Its not the kind of shrub that stores normally sell.
Not that nurseries don't sell it, it's just not commonly sold, at least on the East Coast of the us.
I purchased the new cultivar of sweet shrub, "Venius", and it hasn't bloomed yet.
If you don't mind buying it online, there are vendors that sell the regular sweet shrub on Daves Garden page. Just put in a web search on google and Daves will come up.

If you are going to get this plant i would recommend CALYCANTHUS floridus 'Athens' is has by far the better fragrance.

I also have Calycanthus x raulstonii 'Venus' sometimes called SINOCALYCANTHUS 'Venus' hoping it flowers next year ;)
