| I'm looking for some Fragrant plants that are small or not too big. I would like to have lots of them in my greenhouse in the winter so I can have my own little place until spring comes back. I don't want any bushes or trees, I would like to keep it small. Thanks for the help. |

I have a Hoya keysii that is budding up now that has a fragrance of springtime, kind of like daffodils. They are easy to care for and root readily and mine blooms during the fall and late winter. Then there are the scented geraniums in a multitude of delightful scents. I also grow fragrant herbs over the winter like Rosemary, Basil, Oregano, Thyme, and Sage. I'm sure I'll think of more later. gardenia radicans would be a good choice for a container. same great fragrance of the larger gardenia augusta but more of a prostrate grower with much smaller leaves and flowers. can be pruned to contain size. i can't say about the flowering period if grown indoors but they bloom about the same time as the others when grown outdoors(early summer). also, heliotrope is pleasantly scented to me with purple flower clusters that smell sort of like baby powder or moonflowers. you may also have space for a fragrant flowering vine such as one of the jasmines or trachelospermums which could be allowed to either cascade out of its container, trained to a support or around the walls. |

| A huge chunk of this list is thanks to recommendations by a member named Ispahan: Sansevieria parva Begonia solananthera Neomarica gracilis Brassavola nodosa Epiphyllum anguliger Eucharis amazonica Hoyas (obscura is my favorite and the one recommended by Ispahan; many others have strong scents, such as lacunosa) I also like: Forced hyacinths and lilies-of-the-valley Primroses Cyclamen (some) Rondeletia splendens Senecio rowleyanus, some tillandsias, and supposedly aloe haworthioides and stapelia flavopurpurea (have not tried the latter two). |
