What fragrant shrub is blooming now in MS?

I live in northwest Mississippi (zone 8a). In the last few days, I have walked past some houses with shrubs planted as hedgerows. These shrubs have tiny, off-white flowers that give off a strong, sweet scent. The shrubs appear to be evergreen. I don't think they would be sweet olives, since they bloom in early spring. What could they be? God bless.

Chris, Osmanthus fragrans blooms heavily in the late fall. Mine just finished with a strong flowering period, almost as heavy as the spring bloom.

In another form, Eleagnus was suggested as a possibility. You can easily look it up and compare with what you've seen/smelled. I'll bet that it's the Tea Olive (Osmanthus), though.
