star jasmine pods

I have a star jasmine potted on my patio. It bloomed about a month ago and then stopped producing buds. I've noticed a seed pod on it and am wondering if I should cut it and harvest the seeds so the plant will re-bud. Is that how it works? Also, how do I know when to harvest the pod(s)? Thanks for any advice to this novice gardener.

they are not everblooming here in alabama. their main flush of flowers come in late spring and they bloom profusely for about six-weeks. some sporadic flowering will continue through summer. those pods will ripen and turn brown before splitting open. if you want to plant the seeds, let them brown before harvesting. the seeds resemble giant dandelion seeds, like little umbrellas with spokes, only larger than the dandelions.

Thanks Jeff. I'm not sure about the SoCal weather and the zone 9 seasons with plants. I have a feeling the pod has a ways to go before it's ready. I am experimenting with a number of fragrant bloomers on a trial by error basis. It is kinda exciting but slow.
