Don't know what the best source is, but nurseries caroliniana has 'Fudingzhu' as well as 'thunbergii' and 'aurantiacus' in their online catalog.

I got mine from Nurcar.com, they are great, high quality plants and very nice people to deal with.

According to their website, the minimum plant order is $30 and the minimum shipping and handling is $15. Does that mean $45 if I want one plant? If so, that's kind of steep.

You can graft the better Osmanthus cultivar on less cost sweet Oliver as understock. It can be also done by rooting method with moist perlite in a clean one gal garden container enclosed with a clear poly film bag during warm season.

It's only steep if you don't really want the plant all that much. You can spend 45 dollars on dinner, too. Some choice plants cost over 100 dollars for a young, small graft. You are paying the grower extra to fiddle with a special item.

There are magnolias I would like to try that cost 80 dollars (plus shipping) for a one gallon pot. I don't want to try them that much.

I am a huge fan of the folks at Almost Eden, and they even carry rare Osmanthus varieties like Osmanthus fragrans ÂFudingzhuÂ, which blooms profusely and smells as wonderful as Osmanthus fragrans aurantiacus. I just ordered a couple today and am looking forward to receiving them.

They have doubled in size since I got them in spring. My God the fragrance is so light and sweet..

I can't wait till they start flowering again now that the cooler weather is coming back..
