planting fushia under a bay tree

does any one know if a fushia can thrive being planted under a bay tree? I was wondering if it would do ok with the Acidic soil if I dug a large hole and replaced it with good potting soil.

RE: planting fushia under a bay tree

Hi

I was waiting to see if anyone got back to you with an answer, I don’t want to hog this place, but it seems not.

The ideal pH for fuchsias is 5.8 (Moderately acid: 5.6–6.0) and in my area of the UK we have no problem with this. It may be that where you intend growing the plants may be a little too acid but until you really know what the pH of the area is it may be a ‘suck it and see’ situation.

I have include a link below if you want to know a little more about pH.

I hope this help

Tight....

Here is a link that might be useful: Info on pH
